Helena Nassif, Orient-Institut Beirut

received her PhD in Media and Cultural Studies from Westminster University. She holds a bachelor degree in Environmental Health and a master degree in Journalism. Her PhD thesis examined the role of television in representing the past and constructing an idealized society using a case study of a phenomenal Ramadan drama series, Bab el-Hara. From 2015-2017, Nassif was a visiting fellow researcher at the University of Marburg and at the Orient Institute in Beirut, working on a book project that explores the role of memory in mass and oppositional cultures in the Arab East.
